The serial numbers on the firearms were traced and revealed that they were manufactured in the United States during the late 1940s, some of which were owned by members of the Royal Thai Police force. The owner of the firearms, retired policeman Phirichay Mimmay, has no criminal record and said he simply wanted to own a pistol so that he can protect himself. He was fined and given a suspended prison sentence.
Businesswoman Galyan, owner of a popular spa in Bangkok, is accused of ordering the attack. The investigation focuses on her staff, who were described as "happy and free-spirited". She is to be charged for bribing police officials to avoid prosecution. Galyan denies any involvement.
As the police search for the gunmen, retired police officer Damrong sets up a network of informants, who give him a detailed description of what the gunmen look like. He recalls the details from the attack he saw on television and then visits the scene of the crime. He becomes convinced that there is a conspiracy and calls for a meeting to discuss it. The meeting was attended by Mae Nak, a columnist, and Thanomchai, her assistant. This was witnessed by Suwanna, a transgender woman, who was working with Mae Nak as a singer-songwriter and wanted to meet Damrong.
Suwanna and Thanomchai discover that Damrong was fired from the police force years before because he was having an affair with his superior officer's wife. Suwanna becomes suspicious that Damrong is the mysterious mastermind behind the attack. She becomes involved with Damrong's attempts to defend himself against allegations of corruption, and gives evidence against him at a closed hearing.
Suwanna, Damrong, and the police then search for the gunmen, and a man called Mann. They discover that Mann's wife, whom Suwanna has dated, was murdered shortly after she learned about his involvement with her. Mann has disappeared and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Thanomchai's friend Ekkachai and her boyfriend Sowpongkon attend the closed hearing and provide evidence against Damrong. They also accuse Thanomchai of having an affair with Damrong. Damrong is then called as a witness for the defense, where he is being cross-examined by the prosecutor. He is under pressure to implicate Thanomchai in the murder, but he declines to do so
